Flop!

This maybe linked to by beach lifestyle OR it may link to a time when Lisa was crossing the road near the studio. It was winter so obviously she was wearing a dress and flip flops!!!! It was raining that memorable day, but Lisa being Lisa I attempted to cross the wet road, she crossed, but like Cinderella a flip flop decided to stay put. In a split second she had to decide between carrying on or returning to recover the flip flop… She did neither !!! Stranded like a rabbit in the headlights, frozen with two lines of traffic closing down on her!!! Seeing Lisa’s distress both lines of traffic slowed to allow her to recover the flip flop and continue crossing the road. Suitably embarrassed she informed her listeners. One of whom was Darius from California Fried Chicken. Darious was so intrigued by the story he has been an avid listener ever since and now advertises his local business on the station.

Can't Sing, Don't Sing!

Whilst deciding which flower to put in her hair one morning, Lisa saw herself in the mirror and thought … “I could be an amazing singer” … so with that Lisa contacted Rachel the singing coach. Bearing in mind Rachel is a coach and not a magician the brave task of training the ‘police siren’ (as she is known in the studio) began. Some weeks and ear plugs later can you decide whether Lisa can step up to the mark when it comes to her live performance at this years Poole Park Fest !!!

Biography

At the age of two I remember skipping and bouncing around the garden with my granddad. I was talking to him for a whole hour about a frog we’d just found! He had the patience of a saint. From the same time my mum, known as Doobs in the family, has a video of me reciting every single nursery rhyme off by heart! I talked so much I even put one of my infant school teachers to sleep at reading time. At secondary school a teacher always got me to read things out in class and said to me that I should have a career to do with my voice. I think it’s safe to say that from a young age it was established, I liked to talk!

When I was five I watched my first movie, Mary Poppins, and from that day on I knew I wanted the limelight – I then started ballet, drama, dancing, acting – the lot. Having studied performing arts and music at school and college, I then went onto University to gain a 2.2 … (tutu) degree in TV and Video Production. To earn money whilst at college I worked as part of a radio promotions team and from the moment I walked into a radio studio I knew – that’s it … that’s what I want to do. I said to myself then ‘when I grow up, I want to talk for a living’.

Having literally grown up in a beach hut in Mudeford I have always been close to the coast. The sea and sand are my front and back garden. I love it. The Bay Radio was the natural step for me to maintain my coastal and chatter-box roots.
